Art of Seeing Opening a Great Success

The official opening of The Art of Seeing exhibit was a resounding success. The exhibit entitled "Landscape, Memory and Desire", was curated by a group of family medicine residents.
Staff, faculty, residents and members of the public were present and had the opportunity to view the wonderful works of art chosen by each resident and to hear the impact each piece had on the residents.

Curated by the McMaster University Department of Family Medicine Residents: Maria Deleon-Matsuda, Erin Frotten, Jennifer Kagan, Meng Lu, Lennox Mirander, Puneet Seth, Andrew Smith, Faiza Upal, and BHSc student Hannah Staniszkis.
The McMaster Museum of Art and the Department of Family Medicine are proud to present this exhibition curated by the second year family medicine residents involved in the Art of Seeing program organized by the Museum and the Department of Family Medicine. The course has the aim of sharpening observation skills and enhancing empathy and self reflection through the examination of original works of art.
The exhibit, called Landscape, Memory, Desire, comprises selected works of art from the Museum’s large collection. The curators selected 27 pieces, including paintings by Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Gustave Courbet, Paul Gauguin, and prints by Goya, J.M.W. Turner, and Edvard Munch.
