Family Medicine Faculty Members Receive Prestigous Awards
The Department of Family Medicine would like to congratulate Dr. Karl Stobbe 2010 recipient of the John C. Sibley award and Dr. Cheryl Levitt recipient of the Wonca Fellowship!
Congratulations to Dr. Karl Stobbe, winner of the 2010 John C. Sibley Award! The John C. Sibley award is presented annually to a part-time faculty member in the Faculty of Health Sciences who has contributed in an outstanding manner to the education of health professionals. Dr. Stobbe was the inaugural director of MacCARE and key to setting up the Kitchener-Waterloo and Niagara Regional Campuses. Dr. Stobbe was presented with his award at this year’s annual Carl Moore Lectureship, Friday, May 28, 2010.3
Congratulations to Dr. Cheryl Levitt, winner of the Wonca Fellowship! This fellowship is the most prestigious Wonca award, and is bestowed upon individuals who have rendered outstanding service to Wonca and its mission. Wonca’s mission, which is to improve the quality to life of the peoples of the world by fostering high standards of care in General Practice/Family Medicine, now has an additional dimension, (thanks to Dr. Levitt’s work), in that it does so in respect for universal human rights and including gender equity.
