Congratulations to Kalpana Nair -- PhD in Health Research Methodology
Please join us in congratulating Kalpana Nair who recently received her PhD in Health Research Methodology.
Kalpana successfully defended her thesis entitled, Understanding and Assessing Interdisciplinarity in Health Research Teams. Kalpana's work focused on studying teams of health researchers and what it was like to work with researchers from different disciplines. Funding bodies such as CIHR have encouraged researchers from different disciplines to work together to address complex heath issues, but it is difficult to know what impact this has on how a study is conducted and its outcomes.
Kalpana developed a model known as the Framework for Interdisciplinary Research Assessment (FIRA) to help researchers examine the interdisciplinary component of their research. Through a combination of surveys and guided discussions, researchers can use FIRA to assess indicators related to interdisciplinarity.
Congratulations Kalpana!
